I promised The W that I’d do more backcountry this winter, even though I’m usually more partial to skate. Just gotta think more about the outing and enjoy the Cup a Soup. This week with the early snow we could probably have just packed up the Manimal and trekked through the neighborhood. I’d usually recommend just picking up a ski setup at a local swap (there were some great backcountry neon numbers made in the 80′s) but if I were going new, this is good stuff.

pin on compass is key… stocking stuffer material too. we used Swix gloves for snowboarding before thre were “pipe” gloves, if you know what i mean. gotta have chili after a few laps on the fishscales though… great as usual.
Oh yeah, the Cup a Soup is kind of a family joke . . . after all day bustin butt skiing, you know what would hit the spot?! CUP A SOUP! Yick.

This time of year usually lends itself to good snow so hopefully there will be a few more trips (as well as some backcountry action). [...]
