After seeing the Gant shirts in person I have to admit I’m sold. They looked so nice. The one I didn’t see, but am fascinated with, is The Pullover (top pict). You know me and a shirt with a twist. I just wonder if it’s possible? In my search to find more reasonable examples, it seems as though this is a common Australian Work Wear shirt. Well if we’re digging into America’s workwear past, why not Australia? The bottom example from Hard Yakka is an example. You already know my fascination with early Australian punk (The Saints play as I type) so why not their workwear?
Other examples are a vintage Rocky Mountain brand from a Japanese site and nice examples from Old Town.

One of the best things bout these is the nice look when tucked in, you don’t have that awkward button on the belt problem.
