Camo – Top 5

camo_top_5

1. Duck – My top pattern, and really a new classic. Original Goretex hand me down from the Pops. Nice leather toggles, shot shell elastic inside the main pockets. Starting to see more signs of reappearance in the Japanese market.

2. Woodland – Always a go-to, really never goes out of style imho. Deployed on the genius bike bag from Fredrik Packers.

3. Swedish Military – Tough? Not really. Functional? Who cares. Looks like a pattern best suited for a Lamborghini.

4. Predator – Best newcomer. I saw this in person a while back and it is fairly mesmerizing. Wearable? Probably not, but it would be a serious sartorial feat of strength to pull it off.

5. Indonesian Jungle – Winner of the country kitchen award. You can almost see the sponge stencil marks. Hideous fashion-wise? Whout a doubt, but sometimes you can’t help staring at the ugly kid in the room.

Just the tip of the pattern iceberg, more than you’d ever want to know here.

I think Dazzle manifested in clothing form might be a health hazard, epileptic seizures and the like. I think Penfield did some once?

Drake, who actually makes real waterfowl clothing, now offers most of their current products in the “old-school” style of waterfowl camo like the one in your top picture. Pretty awesome. How many thousands (millions?) of ducks were killed in that camo before companies started coming out with all of their “modern” options? I think it speaks for itself. You can check out their stuff here (you won’t even have to go to Japan for it).
