I was just hand-delivered Men’s Non-No magazine from Japan. Very fun to look at, not only for the clothes/styles etc but just the magazine layout itself. They do a lot of “on the street” photo pages, interesting. And yes, I echo the common sentiment of “so why can’t I get that in the US?”. I mean that Ben Davis coat in the last pict? I’d wear the crap out of that.

April 77 & April 77 records

Curious to me how some companies make it difficult to see their product. Maybe it’s hype or sneak peaks or they want to push the “feeling” over the product, but man, it makes it hard to show their stuff. This post is primarily about the top Jedi Jacket from April 77. I think you’ll see it has a familiar look to it. And in black.
The other jacket and shirt are from their other clothing – and record company? – line April 77 records. I was looking at the lining in the coat and the retro collar on the shirt.

Sneaking in a pleat

A lot more discussion over at the Selvedge Yard on this, but I saw these shorts from Loden Dager and somehow thought they seemed reasonable. Pleat and all. As far as it goes, I really hope I never have to wear a pleat again – too many Ross & TJ Maxx nightmares from my youth, but as cycles go, not likely unless I fall down some stairs into the great goodbye sometime real soon. So I guess I better get ready.
On a cheerier note, BBlessing’s (pants above) clothing “story” references DB Cooper whom I hadn’t thought about in a long time. Sure, a story like that is a marketing device, but it’s kind of fun, so why not?

Another in the workwear vein but still carrying some military styling (a little less military and I’d like it even better). I especially like the top felt coat – be good for Telluride. Kai D. Kaidi has a blog with some some great shots of early NYC as well, worth checking out.

Ran across this shot of Michael J Fox circa Back to the Future and thought the look was just right for a comeback this fall. Here’s my slightly updated version. Moncler Tibet vest, Wrangler Jean Jacket, J-Crew Broken in T, and a ridiculously overpriced Band of Outsiders gingham.
On a similar note, check this site that tries to allow you to make outfits like this. Odd.

The Cast – NYC

OK, so skulls are over, slubby t-shirts might be over, heck, t-shirts at all for me are pretty much over, but still I kinda like this crazy jawless skull shirt from The Cast. As for the striped pants? If I ever become a roadie on a punk tour of Scandinavia, I’ll be getting these for the trip.

I do hear that the cast store is very cool and worth the trip if in NYC. Some cool photos in their “news” section as well.
